Investment Banker Resume Example

Investment banking resumes in India are evaluated intensely on deal flow and deal value, modelling depth, and IIM/IIT pedigree. Bulge-bracket and domestic bank HRs look for aggregate deal value in INR crore, the specific transaction types (M&A, QIP, LBO, IPO), your precise role on each deal (lead vs. support), and the client sectors covered. CFA Charterholder status is almost table-stakes for VP-level roles. If you came from a non-finance undergraduate background, highlight that trajectory explicitly.

Resume tips

  • Lead with aggregate deal value in INR crore and number of transactions — headline deal stats are the first thing bankers and HRs scan.
  • Distinguish your role on each deal: 'execution lead' vs. 'supported senior banker' signals seniority and accountability clearly.
  • Name the transaction type (LBO, QIP, cross-border M&A) and sector (pharma, consumer, infra) for every deal — these are ATS keywords and conversation anchors.
  • For analyst-to-associate transitions, emphasise modelling speed and accuracy, pitchbook turnaround times, and any live-deal exposure.
  • CFA Charter or Level III candidacy should appear in both the credentials section and the summary if you are targeting VP or above roles.
