Sovereign: senior resume template with an ink cover
A near-black cover block carries the name over a gold hairline, and everything below it runs in one wide column, for the senior candidate whose document is read by a person before it is read by software.
Sovereign is one of 22 free résumé templates in PaperKit, the no-login résumé builder from CodeSierra. It is free to use and free to download as a PDF (no account, no watermark and nothing to pay) and it prints to A4 or US Letter. Sovereign is a showcase layout, so send it where a person reads your résumé first and keep an ATS-safe template for job portals. You fill it in as a form with the real PDF rendering beside you, and switching to any other template carries your content across untouched.

Pick Sovereign if…
- You are introduced by name and the first line of your resume is the strongest thing on it.
- Your history is long enough that one wide column reads better than two.
- The file goes to a search firm, a board pack or a partner, not to a careers portal.
- You want weight on the page without a photograph on it.
What to know before you send it
- A near-black cover block behind the name is a background graphic.
- A foil texture prints under the whole page.
- Reversed contact details in the cover block.
- Applying through a job portal as well? Keep an ATS-first template for that copy: switching costs nothing.
How much fits on one page
Everything below the cover block runs in one wide column, so Sovereign holds more than any other Executive layout here, five or six roles. The near-black cover block and the foil texture both print heavily, so it is worth a test page before you print a stack.
When to use something else
Sovereign assumes a person reads your document before software does, which is true for an executive search and false for a job portal. Split gives you the same density without a cover block or a page texture.
Sovereign works well for these roles
Each example comes with profession-specific bullets you can edit in place.
Questions about Sovereign
- Is the Sovereign resume template free?
- Yes. Sovereign is free: no login, no watermark and nothing to pay at the download step. You can edit it in your browser and download the PDF straight away. Every PaperKit template is free the same way, in all four makers: there is no premium set and nothing to unlock.
- Is Sovereign ATS-friendly?
- Sovereign is a Showcase layout: it uses a full-bleed colour header band and a photo slot, which some applicant tracking systems parse poorly. Use it when a person will read your resume first, and switch to an ATS-first template for automated applications: your content carries over.
- Can I switch away from Sovereign later?
- Yes. Templates are a design layer over your content, so you can change template at any point inside the editor without retyping or losing a single line.
