About this resume builder

A resume is a one- or two-page summary of your work history, education and skills, written for a specific job and usually read first by software rather than a person.

This editor opens on a finished resume so there is no blank page to start from. Change the wording field by field and the real PDF rebuilds beside you, so the page breaks you see are the ones you get. Everything saves to your own browser as you go — there is no account, and no document of yours ever reaches our server, not even to print it.

The ATS score in the panel updates as you type. It is not a grade: it lists what an applicant tracking system would fail to read, so a missing job title or a date it cannot parse is named rather than scored. Twenty-two templates are available, twelve of them single-column and ATS-safe; switching template carries your content over untouched.

The download is a real PDF with a real text layer, built in your own browser by the same renderer that draws the preview, so an applicant tracking system can read the text rather than seeing an image. Is the PDF download really free?

The PDF download is free on every template, with no account, no card and no watermark, so there is no step at which a finished resume becomes unavailable to you. Nothing on PaperKit is sold: there is no premium tier, no upgrade at the download step and no subscription to cancel, and no PaperKit PDF carries a watermark.

What does the ATS score actually measure?

The ATS score checks whether an applicant tracking system can read your resume: whether dates parse, whether job titles and section headings are recognisable, whether contact details are in the body rather than a header, and whether the layout is single-column. It names what to fix rather than handing you a number to optimise.

Is my resume stored on your server?

Your resume is stored in your own browser's local storage and nowhere else. PaperKit has no document database and cannot read your draft. During a PDF render the content is held in memory for that render only, never written to disk and never logged.

Can I build a resume on my phone?

The resume builder is built mobile-first and runs in a phone browser. On a narrow screen it presents your resume as a form rather than as a page: you fill in the fields, reorder or hide sections, switch template from the Design button, and download the PDF, all on a mid-range Android device over capped data. The PDF is built by the same renderer on every device, with fonts PaperKit ships rather than fonts the phone happens to have, which is why the file you get on a phone matches the file you would get on a laptop — the same fonts, the same page breaks and the same selectable text.
